Resource Role Category
Alberta Finance requires a Resource for this project that meets the criteria for qualification in PQR 288PA-233 in the following category: Junior Application Developer. The Resource is responsible for completing the deliverables as outlined in this Statement of Work. This is a new SOW the position is not currently filled.

Experience Level
The Application Developer must be a Junior (“Resource”).
Project Duration
This position is to provide maintenance support for TRA’s existing applications. The term will be for one year. The Start Date and End Date are subject to change at the sole discretion of the Minister.
The initial term for this contract will be 12 months. The Minister reserves the right to extend the term of this SOW once for a term of one year, under the same terms and conditions, including pricing. The Minister reserves the right to contract with the Consultant for the services of the Resource for an additional period of one year without having to issue a Statement of Work, under PQR 288PA-233 or issue a Request for Proposal.
The Resource will be expected to work full-time.
Background

The Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) division is responsible for the maintenance and development of all applications that are used to support the various tax and revenue programs in the Department of Alberta Treasury Board and Finance. The applications provide business process automation functions, imaging capabilities, and strategic information reporting, and serve specific functions such as tax assessment, accounting, and audit.

The scope of application maintenance and development services:
· Ongoing Application Support and On-call services - application support coverage during regular business hours and “on-call” for urgent after-hours service requests.
· Corrective Maintenance - provide error correction of all production application problems that require application code and/or operational modifications. This includes programmatic errors that cause data to be incorrectly reported or displayed, or that cause applications to terminate abnormally.
· Preventative Maintenance - provide proactive problem prevention, leading to a gradual improvement of the maintainability and operational characteristics of the application portfolio. This includes such things as improving system documentation, database index reorganization, source code restructuring, re-engineering of un-maintainable modules, tool construction, application performance monitoring and tuning and any other actions to improve the efficiency and reliability of application programs which will minimize software maintenance requirements.
· Adaptive Maintenance - provide application modifications required by hardware/software upgrades, changes to the system’s environment, or changes to third party Software.
· Enhancement - application modifications or changes required to maintain compliance with Government of Alberta policies or regulatory changes, discretionary changes which may include adding new functionality, and changes to the system’s environment.
· Development – Major enhancement or development projects that are approved by the IT Steering Committee and follow a strict management process to control scope, schedule, and cost. Projects are approved based on value for effort, acceptable risk, and best practices. The project teams are expected to define the requirements, analyze and design the application, acquire or custom-develop the solution, test the application, and implement the solution.

The roles are both full time, working with .Net and Ruby on Rails (willing to train on Rails) in an environment filled with passionate people working with new technologies. The client is looking for one Sr Developer, who can work in both .Net and Rails (ideally, but open to just STRONG .Net candidates as well) and act as a bit of a mentor, as well as either an Intermediate or Jr Developer (even a new grad) to come on board as well. The client is the only one in Canada to develop this type of hardware and software, so you'd get to work with some really cool stuff

Да всё правильно. Их куча приходит, но чем то мне это тогда интересным показалось.

Да из моего опыта, большинство работ я сам находил когда напрямую в компании подавался. А рекрутеры редко срабатывают, как фон который держит в стимуле, позволяет отработать речевые\самопродажные навыки. Hо количество их нужно ограничивать, иначе ни учиться не будет времени, ни чего другого делать.

Да я в принципе свободный радикал человек, дети выросли и уже сами себе на хлеб зарабатывают.
Кроме того, я в душе болтальщик по жизни исповедую путешествие, в том числе сменой работы.

а в штаты не глядели? вроде денег больше платят, да и районов дольно быть побольше чем на севере?

Сначала надо получить гражданство Канады, а там видно будет.
У меня сестра там гражданка США с матерью, так что вроде бы даже и проще было бы.

Но не известен еще вопрос с медициной, типа если там работа по контракту, скажем, на всю семью её дают?
Зарплату я тоже пока намного больше не видел предложений там, наверное для "своих" берегут.
Стиль работы там более напряженный, в среднем.

Да и одно дело хотеть, другое реально болтаться где-то.
Не хотелось бы надолго уезжать от детей, а в остальном жизнь покажет.

Гражданство канады дает возможность работать по спец.визе получаемой вами а не работодателем на границе. И все. Если вдруг через 2-3-4-5 лет захотите таки оформить п.р. там, эта канадская виза права не дает. по-любому надо будет делать рабочую общую визу, которая предусматривает вариант иммиграции.
|||||Медицина, вопрос кочено интересный, хотелось бы послушать что скажут русские израильтяне-ватики переехавшие в штаты по поводу медицины там/
от меня могу сказать что хуже медицины в плане доступности я видел по-моему в постсовковой украине. дело в том что например в израиле откуда я , медицина таки-частная, но доступная, и главнош своевременная, ну как помню.
технологическая составляющая не хуже чем здесь и все доступно и не дорого и главное быстро. не думаю что чтоъто изменилось за последние годы.
в канаде все технологично и не доступно и главное не быстро(для меня быстро было в израиле максимум 2 -3 недели ожидания, обычно в течении недели).
примеры есть и не только чужие но и на собственном опыте. я оччень разочарован доступностью канадской медицины, до такой степени что мне например страшно представить себя в 60 и более лет имеющим дело с такой доступностью.

то что знаю про стиль работы опять же от русских израильтян, жалко потерял их контакты, тамА работают как в израиле, что для меня означает, нормально. наверно вы сделали выводы о моем мнении здесь.
